Sol kadhi is a 5 minute No Cook, Digestive and Immunity booster, cool refreshing drink. You may consume it with rice as any other curry. Main ingredient is Kokum or mangosteen herb which is a tropical summer fruit. This herb/fruit is dried and consumed year round. It has a beautiful tangy flavor and many delicious beverages are prepared using fresh mangosteen juice. Sol Kadhi is a kid friendly beverage. You may even call it Soul Kadhi because it is truly soothing to the soul.
The great thing about our sol kadhi recipe is that it requires no cooking and takes just 5 to 10 minutes preparation time. We have used garlic and carom seeds but, these ingredients are optional. In addition to adding flavor, carom seeds aid digestion and raw garlic helps boost immunity. A perfect blend of digestive, immunity and refreshment aspects makes Sol Kadhi a favorite family beverage.
We have used frozen shredded coconut in recipe but do note that fresh coconut tastes better. If using fresh coconut, you may want to consider using a coconut scraper. On the other hand, if you are using frozen coconut, make sure to bring it to room temperature or use warm water to blend. Incase you use cold coconut, you will notice that the oil tends to separate and float on top and if it does, just warm it for 20 seconds. The taste of Sol Kadhi depends on the right texture of shredded coconut.
