Easy goat curry from our kitchen to yours! It uses simple ingredients available in any Indian kitchen. The prep time is short and if you find good quality meat, the cooking time is also short. This hearty and easy Goat Curry recipe is great for a lazy weekend lunch or to warm those winter blues.
Try this Goat Curry recipe curry once and you will never make another goat recipe. Although we also have another great mutton curry – The Goan Goat Curry! The Goan version is a bit time consuming but this one is super easy and doesn’t consume a lot of time. While this curry tastes wonderful with rice, it goes even better with our delicious homemade pav.
Marinate the meat in turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt for about a half hour. Fry the whole spices, onions and ginger-garlic in oil till the onion garlic mixture turns golden brown and oil begins to separate. Make sure not to undercook it or the curry may taste bitter. Also make sure to cook the tomato pureé before adding the meat to the sauce.

Easy Goat Curry
Ingredients
- 4.5 lbs goat meat use quality meat
Marination
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- salt
Curry
- 1 tbsp oil
- 5 whole green cardamom pods
- 5-6 cloves
- 10 peppercorns
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 3 tomatoes pureé
- 10-15 cloves garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 3 tsp cumin-coriander powder
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 10 baby potatoes (halved) optional
- 1-2 cups water
- cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate meat with salt, turmeric powder and red chili powder for a half hour.
- In a pan, heat oil and fry cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaf and peppercorns.
- Add onion and sauté golden brown.
- Add ginger and garlic paste and fry till oil separates.
- Add spices – turmeric, cumin-coriander powder, garam masala and red chili powder.
- Add tomatoes and cook.
- Add meat and stir.
- Add water, cover and cook for about 20 minutes until the meat is tender stirring once in a while.
- Once meat is cooked, add spices and salt if necessary.
- Add potatoes (optional) and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Serve with rice or roti.
